MUBAS Student Busted in Mo626 SMS Scam at Blantyre Pub as Video Goes Viral

A student from Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) is trending online after being caught allegedly running a mobile money scam at a local pub in Blantyre.
The incident reportedly happened at Philly’s Pub, where the student was drinking while allegedly sending fake SMS messages pretending to be from Mo626 in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting victims.
According to reports, the scheme was uncovered on the spot, leading to the student being apprehended at the venue. A video of the incident is now circulating online, showing the suspect pleading for forgiveness after being caught.
The incident has since sparked widespread concern among the public over rising cases of fraud linked to mobile money platforms.
Authorities are yet to comment on the matter.
