The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe has found Winter Banda guilty of reckless driving causing the death of two women.

State prosecutor Peter Sulani told the court that on November 11, 2025, Banda was driving an Isuzu KB (registration NU11363) from Lumbadzi to Area 25C while carrying both passengers and goods.

Upon reaching Magwero in Kanengo, the vehicle reportedly veered off the road and hit two women, who later died while receiving treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

In his ruling, First Grade Magistrate Arthur Mtalimanja ordered Banda to pay a fine of K1.3 million or, in default, serve a prison sentence of one year and six months.
