Child Dies After Allegedly Entering Swimming Pool Unnoticed in Area 43

A two-year-old boy has drowned in a swimming pool in Area 43, Lilongwe.
The child has been idetified as Kleos Glory Mapandula of Mponda village in traditional authority Nsamala in Balaka.
It is reported that, Kleos and his mother Ulemu Milimbo Mapundula came to Lilongwe from Blantyre for a visa interview, preparing to travel to United States of America (USA).
On May 19,2026 they attended a medical check up at Good Hope Private Hospital.
Upon returning to their relative home in area 43 Kleos went to play with his friends in the compound.
Whilst there, Kleos’ friends informed his mother that Kleos was swimming in the pool.
The mother rushed to the pool and found her child floating.
The child was taken to Lilongwe Private Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident was reported to Lingadzi Police Station where CID officers visited the scene.
As of now the body is at Mthunzi Mortuary waiting for postmortem.
Lingadzi Police Station is appealing to all parents and guardians to pay full attention to their children to avoid any eventualities.
