Daeyang Luke University student arrested over fake MSCE results

A 34-year-old female student of Daeyang Luke University in Lilongwe is in police custody for enrolling using a fake Malawi School Certificate Education (MSCE) notification slip.

According to police spokesperson at Kanengo police Laban Makalani. the student Nacy Kamwendo, who is in her first year at the university while pursuing a program in Nursing and midwifery, fraudulently obtained enrolment in into the university in September 2017 by using a fake notification slip indicating 15 points.

“The anomaly was discovered during a vetting process, which the school engaged the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB). Through investigations, MANEB’s security officers established that the notification of the student, which indicated an aggregate of 15 points, was forged,” said Makalani.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the student, who is also a Nurse at Kasungu District Hospital, wrote her MSCE at Kasungu Secondary School in 2015.

Nacy Kamwendo, who hails from Chakachadza village, TA Kachere in Dedza district, is expected to appear before court soon to answer charges of Forgery under section 351 of the penal code.

“Investigations into the matter are underway,” added Makalani.
