Kasungu Road Accidents claim Two Lives

Two people died last Sunday and sixteen others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kasungu District, police have confirmed.

According to Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Harry Namwaza, the first accident occurred at Chinkhoma Trading Centre involving a lorry.

“A Fuso Fighter lorry which was coming from Mchinji failed to stop due to speeding and hit four pedestrians where one of them identified as Richard Said (32) died on the spot,” Namwaza said.

The PRO further said the second accident involved a Toyota Quantum minibus which occurred at Chipeta Village along Kasungu-Mzimba M1 road.

In this accident, unidentified passenger who was on board died and eleven other passengers were injured after the vehicle overturned also due to speeding.

Hospital results have indicated that both the deceased died due to severe loss of blood emanating from head injuries.
