Two people injured in minibus accident in Dowa

Two people have sustained minor injuries after the motor vehicle they were travelling in involved in a road accident in Dowa.

The accident which happened on Wednesday, July 15 2020 at Mvera Support Battalion road junction along Salima-Lilongwe road, involved a motor vehicle registration number *SA 8347* Toyota Coaster minibus, driven by Solomon Jere, 38, from Phosuka Village in Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba District.

Police report indicate that the minibus was being driven from direction of Kanengo heading Salima with 18 passengers on board and upon arrival at Mvera Support Battalion road junction along Salima-Lilongwe road, the driver started overtaking a truck which was heading towards the same direction with him.

In the process of overtaking, he saw another truck coming from the opposite direction and to avoid head on collision with the coming truck, the driver pulled his minibus to the extreme right where he eventually hit the embarkment of the road and the minibus overturned sideways.

Due to the impact, two passengers (Akimu Andrea, 21, of Kandulu Village, Traditional Authority Ndindi in Salima, and another one) sustained minor injuries and were treated at Mvera Health Centre in Dowa District.
