Ken Msonda back calls for Mutharika’s resignation

One of the top officials in the Democratic progressive Party (DPP) Ken Msonda has backed calls for the party President Peter Mutharika to resign.

The past weekend, one of the social commentators advised the opposition DPP not to cling to Mutharika if it is to bounce back in power in 2025.

The call followed remarks made by Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also DPP Vice President for the South that Mutharika remains the party President.

Speaking in an interview with the Press, Msonda said some senior members of the party are also sharing the same view.

He has accused the party’s leadership of failing to implement plans that would have led the party to victory in last month’s election.

Effort to talk to DPP spokesperson Nicholas Dausi proved futile.

Mutharika lost the fresh polls to Tonse Alliance President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who amassed 2.6 million votes against 1.7 million.
