A 68 year old man identified as Pierson Chirwa has committed suicide by hanging himself to the roof of his house in Mzimba district.
Peter Botha Mzimba Police Station PRO said wife to the deceased, Eunice Chilenje, indicated that her husband left home on August 10, 2020 morning for beer drinking to the neighbouring village until he returned at night.”The wife said the following day, Chirwa was found hanging to the roof at the veranda of his house by his granddaughter at around 07:00 hours.
However, reasons as to why Chirwa committed suicide are not known.” Explained BothaAccording to Botha, postmortem results conducted by Mzimba hospital medical personnel revealed that Chirwa died due to strangulation.Pierson Chirwa hailed from Kawingeni village, Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in Mzimba District.”Police in the district are advising members of the general public to report issues affecting them to relevant authorities for advice and counseling rather than commiting suicide.” Added Botha
