Dedza District Council Recieves 30 Million Kwacha For Implementation of COVID-19 Activities

Dedza District Commissioner Mr Emmanuel Bulukutu says they have received 30 million kwacha for implementation of COVID-19 activities including buying personal protective equipment and disinfecting public facilities in the district.

Speaking during a meeting with Traditional Authorities in Dedza, Bulukutu said some communities are not following COVID-19 regulations like wearing face mask and enforcing social distance hence engaging the chiefs .

Speaking on behalf of all Chiefs, Senior Chief Kachindamoto said they will ban initiation ceremonies and they will take a leading role in sensitising villagers to follow COVID-19 regulations.

But Kachindamoto said some people are flocking into the country through boats and are not tested Covid-19 upon arrival hence the need for security officers to conduct patrols along the lake too.
