Woman stoned to death for attempting to steal motorbike in Dedza

A 24 year old woman has been stoned to death by an angry mob in Dedza for attempting to steal a motorbike.

Dedza Police deputy publicist Sergeant Cassim Manda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press on Tuesday and identified the deceased as Josophine Andsen.

According to Manda, Andsen her friend hired a motorbike to Gowoke village with an aim to steal the bike.

Upon arriving at Goweke Village, the suspects intercepted the bike prompting the taxi operator to shout for help.

Villages responded positively and apprehended the two and started administering mob justice by stoning the two.

Law enforcers rushed to the scene after tip off from well-wishers and rescued the two. The two were rushed to the hospital and the woman died upon arrival at the hospital.

The other suspect is receiving treatment at Nkhoma Mission Hospital.

Andsen hailed from Chimasula village in the area of Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza
