GOVT GIVEN 7 DAY ULTIMATUM TO ACT ON BOARDS

Three non-governmental organizations have given government a seven day ultimatum to reconstitute parastatal boards.
In a notice, the three which include Gender Coordination Network-GCN, Human Rights Defenders Coalition-HRDC and Women Lawyers Association petitioned the Office of the President and Cabinet and the Attorney General.
Speaking to Local Press, Chairperson for Gender Coordination Network-GCN Barbra Banda says the boards need to have more women representation and that government should do a review.
According to Banda, who turned down her appointment, demographic analysis indicates that out of 67 boards, only seven have female chairpersons.
Information Sourced from Local press, MBC tried to get reaction on the matter from government side, but government spokesperson who is also Minister of Information Gospel Kazako asked for more time to comment.
