Chakwera Assures Malawians: We Were Safe From Covid-19 In Tanzania

The President of Malawi, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has assured Malawians that he and the Malawi delegation that travelled to Tanzania on a two-day official visit were safe from COVID 19.

Chakwera made the remarks during ‘Malawi Watsopano’ program on Malawi Broadcasting Cooperation (MBC).

Chakwera said before the meeting, both Malawian and Tanzanian delegation that attended the meetings were tested for COVID-19 and results indicated that no one had the virus.

He said they followed other COVID-19 prevention measures, including social distancing and hand sanitizing.

Chakwera, therefore, said he did not wear the face mask to display the trust he had in the Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli, who recently declared his country “Coronavirus-free”.

Cuurently, Malawi has 994 total active cases of Covid-19 while 4647 people have recovered from the virus.
