Govt Asked To Intervene On Bushiri Case

As it continues to pour on the leader of Enlightened Christian Gather (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Prophetess Mary Bushiri, a Civil Society Movement has called on the Malawi Government to intervene on the matter.

The call has been made during a press briefing in the capital Lilongwe concerning the situation surrounding the Bushiri couple.

According to the grouping which is being led by Robert Mkwezalamba pleaded with the Malawi government to assign a state security personnel to go with the Bushiris to South Africa if they are to be extradited, to be with them throughout the trial.

Mkwezalamba further accused the South African government of lacking seriousness regarding the security concerns raised by Bushiri in which he alleged that there have been assassination attempts on him and his wife’s lives.

He further urged the Malawi government not to be coerced to extradition requests by the South African government until all Bushiri’s safety concerns are addressed.

Meanwhile, Bushiri and his wife are in police custody after they handed themselves over to police this morning.
