Magistrate recuses himself from COVID-19 plunder case involving 8 immigration officers

Chief Resident Magistrate Jean kaira has recused herself from a case where eight immigration officers are being accused of taking part in the K6.2 billion #COVID19 funds abuse.

She said she was together with one of the accused, Linda Minjale, at Chancellor College; hence, her decision.

She said Chief Resident Magistrate Akya Mwanyongo will take over the case.

The law enforcers in Malawi have nabbed over 60 people in connection with the plunder of COVID-19 funds.

Currently investigations are still underway.
