2021/2022 national budget pegged at MK1.99 trillion

Minister of Finance Felix Mlusu has unveiled a K1.99 trillion 2021-2022 National Budget which represents 19.4 percent of the country’s GDP.

Out of the total envelope, K1.419 trillion is recurrent expenditure while K570.8 billion is for development expenditure.

In the 2020-2021 Budget, the Affordable Inputs Program (AIP) has proved to be a success enabling the country to register a 1.4 million metric tons surplus.

With this in mind, Mlusu says the AIP will be continued in the 2021-2022 fiscal year with a total of 3.5 million people to benefit.

He says the country is in the process of looking for an export market for farm produce within Africa.

Mlusu says total revenue and grants have been estimated at K1.27 trillion of which K1.1 trillion is domestic revenue while K56.9 billion will be sourced from other revenues.
