Police call for calm among Kabula and Che Mussa residents

Police in Blantyre would like to appeal to the residents around Kabula Police Unit in Mbayani, Chemusa and Chirimba townships to be calm as police continue with investigations and proper steps for the prosecution of the suspects who allegedly murdered a business person on May 29, 2021.

According to Sub Inspector Nkhwazi, Spokesperson for Blantyre Police Station, Police in the city understand the concerns over the killing of Biziwick Chinawa, 35 of Musamagasa Village, Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre by unknown criminals at Chemusa on the day in question.

“Police have made some arrests of suspects in connection to the killing and have intensified investigations to ensure that all involved are arrested. Further inquiries are currently ongoing to arrest two more suspects who are at large.

“Police, therefore, assures the community in Blantyre that all necessary steps are being followed to ensure that justice takes its course in this matter,” said Nkhwazi.

The law enforcers in the city condemn in totality the chaotic scenes that ensued around the Kabula Police Unit on June 1, 2021, by angry community members who were demanding the release of those arrested to exercise mob justice on them.

“Blocking the roads, burning tyres and pelting stones was an inconvenience to other road users,” added Nkhwazi.

Police are calling for concerted efforts in fostering law-abiding communities in Blantyre and ensure that all involved in criminal activities are brought to book.

The suspects will be taken before the court soon to answer charges of the alleged murder.
