Auxiliary teachers in peaceful protests

Auxiliary teachers are this morning having demonstrations, asking the Ministry of Education to employ them permanently.

The teachers plan to march from Lilongwe Community Ground to Parliament, where they are to present their petition to the Chairperson of the Education Committee of Parliament.

The IPTE 13 teachers are working on a five month contract that will expire on June 25.

Among other things, the teachers are requesting Parliament to allocate funds in the 2021/22 National budget to Ministry of Education for them to get permanent employment.

They are also asking government to explain why they announced vacancies in different districts for teachers yet IPTE 13 teachers have not been recruited.
