NAC Says HIV and AIDS Ends By 2030

The National AIDS Commission – NAC has expressed optimism that Malawi will be able to end HIV and AIDS by 2030 saying progress that has been made in the fight is tremendous.
NAC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Andrew Gonani disclosed this  during an orientation session on current HIV and AIDS trends in Malawi as well as the National Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS (2020-2025) being implemented by the Commission.
 Gonani said Malawi made a huge progress in the fight through implementation of Global AIDS Strategy that run from 2015 to 2020.
According to Gonani, Malawi is now implementing successor, National strategic plan which started from 2020 and will run until 2025.
”At the moment, Malawi’s diagnosis rate is at 92%, those that have been put on treatment immediately after found positive is at 95% and viral suppression is at 94%, this is huge progress” said Gonani.
 However Malawi has given herself the target of 2025, according to Gonani.
United Nations General Assembly meeting of 2016, leaders from different countries agreed on the targets to end HIV and AIDS by 2030.
