Former MASM boss’ defilement case adjourned to July 9

The Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Blantyre has adjourned to July 9, 2021 a defilement case involving former Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Ngomwa who is accused of defiling and infecting his niece with HIV and Aids.

Last month the court found Ngomwa with a case to answer and charged him with six counts; rape, defilement, indecent practice in presence of a child, sexual intercourse with a minor and procuring defilement by administering drugs.

The case was scheduled to resume for defense today.

But the defence lawyer Fostino Mayere asked for extension of time for his client to prepare himself for the case.

Mayere told the court that his client intends to parade five witnesses, himself [Ngomwa] inclusive.

Meanwhile the case has been adjourned to July 9, 2021.
