Angry villagers set ablaze a church in Blantyre

Angry villagers on Sunday morning set ablaze set ablaze a church belonging to self-acclaimed, Lord Overtone Makuta, leader of Headstone Prophetic Ministry in Chileka, Blantyre.

Church members who witnessed the fracas say at around 8 am while a church service was in progress, angry villagers who were carrying pangas and other weapons stormed the church and forced the congregants out.

According to reports, the fracas follow disagreements members of the had with the Gule Wamkulu cult over burial arrangements of a traditional leader, Group Village Headman Mkata who had converted to Christianity from Gule Wamkulu.

It is believed that the gule wankulu members resorted in burning the church in retaliation of the incident.

Chileka Police publicist Jonathan Phillipo confirmed of the incident, saying three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
