Mangochi to start vaccinating children against COVID-19

Mangochi District Health Office (DHO) is expected start vaccinating children aged between 12 and 17 against COVID-19 after finalizing discussions with various sectors in the district.

This was revealed by District Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) Officer, Stanley Rashid on Thursday during a COVID-19 update meeting held in Mangochi.

“The Pfizer Vaccine requires one to take two doses with a second dose coming after four weeks,” Rashid added.

However, stakeholders during the meeting called on the DHO to carry out mass awareness on the children vaccination saying this needs a lot of conviction over parents who might still believe that COVID-19 was not children.

As of Wednesday January 19, Mangochi registered 18 new cases, 13 recoveries and one new death.
