Shortage of Vehicles Cripples Law Enforcer’s Operations In Tightening Security In Capital City Lilongwe

Law enforcers on secondment at the Lilongwe City Council has singled out shortage of vehicles and resistance by the general public as some of the main challenges affecting their operations aimed at bringing sanity in the city.

The sentiment has been revealed toady in the city when the council officials led by the city mayor Richard Banda were briefing the media on a number of developmental projects being carried out by the council in the last quarter of the 2023/2024 financial year.

For instance Banda said the council requires about 5 motor vehicles to help the law enforcers to go to all the corners of the city to enforce law and order, but it only has one functioning vehicle now.

He has since urged the corporate world to come to their rescue.

Among others the city council says it is implementing a master plan on road networks, automated car parking system and discussing with stakeholders on the relocation of the Area 38 dump site to a new place along the Salima road.
