Mangochi Accident Claims Three Lives, Driver Arrested

Three people, including a two-year-old baby, lost their lives yesterday in a tragic road accident along the Arthur Peter Mutharika Highway in Mangochi.
Mangochi Police Publicist, Amina Tepani Daudi, confirmed that the accident occurred in the Chimwala area and involved a motor vehicle and a bicycle carrying a woman with a baby on her back.
According to police reports, the driver of a Honda Life Saloon, registration number MH 8587, identified as Patrick Buleya, 26, was allegedly speeding when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and collided with the bicycle.
The cyclist sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Ukalanga Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead. The woman and the child were taken to Mangochi District Hospital but, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
Following the incident, police arrested the driver, who will face charges of reckless driving, contrary to road traffic regulations.
