The Malawi National Football Team, popularly known as the Flames, has dropped one place on the latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday. The team has moved from position 131 to 132.

The drop follows back-to-back defeats in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers held last month. The Flames suffered a 1-0 loss to Namibia at the Bingu National Stadium before being defeated 2-0 by Tunisia at the Olympique Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Tunis.

The consecutive losses have affected the team’s ranking as they continue to struggle in the qualifying campaign. Football analysts say the Flames need to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures to improve their standings.

Fans are hopeful that the team will regain momentum and secure better results in their next matches.
