Police in Neno district have arrested 3 women on allegations that they have stolen 28 bags of maize belonging to Loveness Chingwalu, a known business woman in the district.
Neno police publicist, Rebecca Msoliza identified the three women as Josephine Msuse aged 19, Esther Mtendere aged 22 and Edda Mlotta aged 30, all from Kamoto village, in the area of Senior Chief Dambe in the district.
Msoliza says the three were working as domestic workers at the woman’s lodge and on 2 June, 2025, she forgot keys for the store room at the door and one suspect took them but denied knowledge when the owner realized of the missing key.
” They then started stealing the maize and other items; and after being satisfied that they have stolen enough, they returned the keys to the owner and she checked the store room and discovered that a total of 28 bags were missing,” said Msoliza.
Msoliza added that upon interrogation, they have all accepted to have stolen the maize and the other items and will appear before court soon upon completion of the paperwork.
