MERA Dismisses Fake Letter Announcing Fuel Price Reduction

The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has dismissed a letter circulating on social media claiming that fuel prices have been reduced.

In a statement released on its official social media pages, MERA clarified that it has not issued any communication regarding fuel price adjustments.

“The circulating letter is fake news. MERA has neither made such a decision nor released the statement,” reads part of the post.

The clarification comes at a time when fuel shortages continue to frustrate motorists and cause long queues at filling stations across the country.
