Police in Chitsime, Lilongwe, have arrested two men suspected of illegally possessing live pangolins for sale.

The suspects, Clement Chakwanila, 27, and Mike Banda, 44, were arrested on Thursday morning at Chiseka Cemetery.

According to Lilongwe Deputy Police Spokesperson Khumbo Sanyiwa, officers at Chitsime Police received a tip-off from a well-wisher that the two were attempting to sell the pangolins. Police then approached the suspects under the pretense of being potential buyers, leading to their arrest.

The pangolins have since been handed over to wildlife officials, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
