Kachamba Dies in Kasungu Road Accident

Police in Kasungu District have confirmed the death of Bonface Kachamba following a road accident that occurred at Mtunthama T-junction along the M18 Kasungu–Nkhotakota Road on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Kasungu Police Public Relations Officer Joseph Kachikho said the accident involved a Ford Ranger double-cab, registration number BY9313, driven by Denis Moyo, and a motorcycle carrying two people, including Kachamba.
According to Kachikho, Kachamba, who hailed from Maliwa Village under Traditional Authority Chulu in Kasungu, died from severe head injuries and multiple fractures. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kasungu District Hospital.
Kachikho added that the motorcycle passenger sustained injuries, including swelling on the right knee and bruises on both legs. The passenger was initially taken to Anglican Mission Hospital before being referred to Kasungu District Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the Ford Ranger escaped with minor injuries.
