Malawi is mourning the death of popular TikTok personality Davie Khan Chikaonga, who has died at the age of 25 after battling cancer.
Davie passed away in India, where he had travelled to receive specialized medical treatment following a public fundraising effort supported by well-wishers.
The young content creator had become a beloved figure among Malawians through his engaging TikTok videos, earning admiration for his energy, positivity, and connection with fans. His illness and journey to seek treatment abroad had also drawn national attention, with many people rallying behind him in support.
Earlier this year, Malawian musician Onesimus joined the campaign to help Davie raise funds for his medical trip. The appeal gained momentum online, enabling him to travel to India in hopes of receiving life-saving care.
Despite the collective efforts and support, Davie eventually succumbed to cancer, leaving many across the country heartbroken.
Throughout his illness, Davie was cared for by his sister, Linda, who remained by his side in India until his final moments. The two are reported to have had no surviving parents, making the loss even more devastating for the family.
Tributes have since flooded social media, with many remembering Davie not only as an entertainer but as a symbol of strength and resilience during his fight against cancer.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course as Malawians continue to send messages of condolences and prayers.
