A 53-year-old man was shot and killed at his home in Osindisweni, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on Monday evening after responding to a knock at his front door.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), a group of suspects allegedly posed as customers before opening fire on the victim.
The man reportedly attempted to flee from the attackers but was chased and shot multiple times.
The suspects are alleged to have stolen three cellphones, an HP laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s wife and a neighbour managed to take cover during the attack and escaped unharmed.
Authorities say the deceased operated an alcohol-selling business from his property and also owned rental accommodation.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the head and neck.
Police have since launched investigations into charges of murder and robbery. No arrests have been made so far.
