Police hunt man for killing uncle over nsima in Dedza

Police in Mayani Dedza are searching for a 21-year-old man, Jonas Baluya, for killing his uncle, Sofiyano Masina, following a dispute over nsima.
The incident occurred in Ansato Village, TA Tambala, where the two got into an argument over a plate of nsima.
According to reports, at around 7:00 p.m., Sofiyano Masina, 27, was eating food that had been left for him by family members. It is reported that Jonas Baluya, abit drunk, arrived and attempted to take the food.
When Sofiyano informed him that his his mother had kept lunch for him which was in the house, Jonas became angry, insisting that he could not eat cold food.
“Nsima asunga 12 koloko. Ndidye panopa why?”
The argument quickly escalated. Police reports indicate that Jonas picked up a hoe and repeatedly struck Sofiyano on the neck and face, inflicting fatal injuries.
Realizing that his uncle had died, Jonas fled the scene and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Police have since launched a manhunt for him.
