Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Uncle Over Witchcraft Accusations

Police in Dowa have arrested Rodwell Nduna on suspicion of murdering his uncle following accusations of witchcraft.

Dowa Police spokesperson Alice Sitima said the incident occurred on April 13 this year, but the suspect had been on the run until his arrest at Chankhungu Trading Centre in the district.

According to Sitima, the deceased had been accused by some relatives of practising witchcraft, prompting community leaders to convene a meeting to discuss the matter.

However, during the meeting, Nduna allegedly picked up a hammer and repeatedly struck his uncle on the head, causing him to collapse.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

Nduna is expected to appear before court to answer a murder charge.
