34-Year-Old Charged with Murder Following Death of Assault Victim

Zomba Police have charged 34-year-old Gustino Fonias Munlo with murder after a man he allegedly assaulted died while receiving treatment at Zomba Central Hospital.
The victim, Chimwemwe Malikebu, died on 18 July 2026 following the assault, which was reported to police on 14 July.
The case has since been upgraded from causing grievous harm to murder.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court.
Police have urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
