The Maso Awards has announced that AI-generated music and AI-generated artists will not be eligible for nominations or recognition at the awards until further notice.

In a statement, the organisers acknowledged the growing influence of artificial intelligence in the creative industry, saying they recognise that AI technology is here to stay.

However, the awards maintain that AI should be used to enhance human creativity rather than replace it.

“At Maso Awards, we believe AI should enhance human creativity not replace it. Therefore, AI-generated music and AI-generated artists will not be eligible for nomination or recognition at the Maso Awards until further notice,” the statement reads.

The organisers have encouraged artists to embrace artificial intelligence as a creative tool while maintaining the authenticity, originality and human expression that define artistic work.

The Maso Awards said it remains committed to celebrating authentic human creativity while supporting the responsible and ethical use of AI in the arts.

The organisation added that its position will be reviewed periodically as artificial intelligence technology and industry standards continue to evolve.
