Beta Television in financial crisis, now off air

Barely two months after after suspending live coverage of TNM Super league games, Beta Televison has stopped airing programmes on its channel and the TV is now off air.

The station is said to have gone off air on Monday this week leaving the workers at the station in total disarray.

Effort to talk to Station Manager Jimmy Kwizimbe proved futile.

Inside sources say the station is down due to lack of money to meet the cost of operations.

Beta TV made headlines in the country in July 2016 when the station acquired three-year broadcasting rights-at K266 million per season- from the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) to beam Super League games live.

The TV outclassed other private owned televisions Times TV and Matindi TV.

Although this was the case, the TV station failed to meet the required standard and two months ago the TV suspended the live coverage of TNM Super Leagues.
