Mafunyeta, Matumbi on song at Maskal launch

A Cameo appearance by Lilongwe-based music old timer Annie Matumbi and sensation Mafunyeta during the launch of Maskal’s Umunthu album ended up stealing the thunder from the Afro-pop star at Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.

The surprise appearance of the duo—who were not on the list of performers, saw fans embrace their performance.

Indeed, their performances were a marvel to watch with the duo’s unique freestyles sending fans into ecstasy.

The two came on the stage towards the end of the show at around 8:45pm after being invited by another support cast – Black Missionaries vocalist Anjiru Fumulani.

The fans were sent into excitement as the two started ‘ridiculing’ each other in one of their composition—mocking each other including on dressing and residences as the fans cheered them on.

However, cometh the hour cometh the main man and the main artist Maskal tried to also offer his Lilongwe fans the best by dishing out new songs from his new album such as ‘Usatope’ and hit of the moment ‘Zili Ndi Iwe’.

As the silky-voiced star performed ‘Zili Ndi Iwe’, the fans could not help it but sing along and dance as testimony to enjoyment they felt.

He came on stage after Yanjanani Chumbu, Moda Fumulani and Anthony Makondetsa had done their sets.

Eventually, Maskal bowed out of the stage at exactly 6:40pm with ‘Usandisiye’ for the Chileka-based reggae group which opened their chapter with ‘Nkhawa bii’.

After the performance, Anjiru reminded the fans to support Maskal by buying his original CD.

“Let’s remember to buy Maskal’s original CD, this is the only way we can best support him,” he said.
