UK government is urging Malawi to support a military strike on Syria

The UK government is urging Malawi to support a military strike on Syria as a punishment for using chemical weapons on civilians.

This comes as US President Barack Obama is calling for support from other nations to launch an attack on Damascus on claims that the chemical weapons killed over one thousand people.

Earlier, Malawian authorities promised to declare their stand after assessing the situation in that country.

However, a former diplomat John Chikago tipped the authorities to avoid commenting on the matter on grounds that Malawi does not have the super political powers on the matter.

But speaking to Capital FM, the British high commissioner to Malawi Michael Nevin says it is necessary to have a collective action against Syria to serve a lesson to other countries using the same weapons.

Nevin says the US government should not be left alone to handle the issue.
