A-27-year-old man is in Police custody in Liwonde, Machinga for allegedly offering his own four-year-old daughter for sale to a businessman at K500,000.
Police publicist, Andrew Mawayo confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Austin Walasi and the businessman as Frank Namanja.
According to Mawayo, saying Walasi was arrested at Liwonde Road-block at around 1 o’clock on Tuesday.
Namanja, who does business at Liwonde Road-block, tipped the police that Walasi was selling a girl.
Meanwhile the suspect is in police custody awaiting trial on “Offering a Child For Sale’ contrary to Section 88 of Child Care Protect and Justice Act.
