MAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN FEAR OF POLICE ARREST

A murder suspect has committed suicide in Nkhotakota for fear of being arrested by the Police.

Nkhotakota Police Spokesperson Williams Kaponda confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the suspect the deceased as Malamula Jekiseni.

According to Kaponda, the suspect was being accused of having a hand in the mysterious disappearance of three people.

Kaponda said on June 11 2015, members of the community’s policing group arrested the deceased, but he managed to escape before he was handed over to police.

“Since the incident, the police [launched] a man-hunt to bring the suspect to book on the alleged murder charge, but only to find him dead on July 6 2015,” said Kaponda.

Kaponda said the place where Jekiseni’s body was discovered had human bones, his clothes,a voter’s registration card with his particulars and a rope hanging from a tree.

Jekiseni hails from Chitsulo Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwansambo in the district.
