President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired Chief Commissioner of Prisons Kennedy Nkhoma, former husband to Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Esther Mcheka Chilenje for unknown reason.
Prisons spokesperson Evance Phiri confirmed of the development in an interview with the press but denied to give more details on the matter.
According to Phiri, Khoma has been redeployed to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.
Nkhoma has been replaced by Commissioner of Prisons for Southern Region, Litto Mtengano as Acting Chief.
When approached for comment, Nkhoma Monday expressed ignorance about the matter.
