As people across the country continue to question President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s relations with his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima, FaceofMalawi can reveal that Chilima has not been given any post in the new cabinet.
According to a new cabinet list released to the press by Chief Secretary to the President George Mkondiwa, Chilima has just been included in the Cabinet as Vice President which is unusual to Malawi’s history.
Previously, Chilima was Minister responsible for Disaster Management and was also the main man behind Public Sector Reform Commission.
The reshuffle has also puzzled many especially the appointment of Dr. George Chaponda as Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development replacing Dr. Allan Chiyembekeza.
According to Chancellor College lecturer Bonface Dulani, Chaponda is a lawyer by professional so it will be difficult for him to work well in the Ministry.
He said the firing of Chiyembekeza won’t bring any solutions to the maize crisis in the country but will just worsen the situation.
