MRA seizes smuggled beer and ciders

Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has seized 352 cases of Hunters ciders and 20 cartons of Heineken beer which could have been smuggled through Dedza Border Station.

MRA official have confirmed of the development in a statement posted on Facebook seen by FaceofMalawi reporter.

According to the statement, the cases were hidden beneath bags of fertilizer in a Trans Nabila truck, registration number MTB1460/ML7952, en-route from Mozambique.

“A thorough physical examination of the truck revealed the cases of alcohol concealed under the fertilizer bags,” reads the statement in part.
