Mutharika appoints taskforce to investigate Lilongwe area 18 water contamination saga

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed a task-force to investigate the water contamination incident that occurred in Area 18 in Lilongwe in July when some residents had sewage-filled water flowing from their taps.

This has been disclosed in a press statement released on Tuesday signed by Chief Secretary to the President LIoyd Muhara made available to faceofmalawi.

According to the statement, Mutharika has appointed Mr. Lex Chiluzi – Chief Director of Finance in the Office of the President and Cabinet as Chairperson of the taskforce.

Mutharika has given the taskforce 14-days to complete and submit a report to him on the matter.

Below is the list of taskforce members;

Mr. Lex Chiluzi – Chief Director of Finance in the Office of the President and Cabinet – Chairperson

Mrs Modesta Kanjaye – Director of Water, Ministry of Agriculture and Water Development – Member

Mr Pacharo Kayira – Chief State Advocate, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs – Member

Mrs. Sphiwe Mawuwa – Director of Local Government Service, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development – Member

Dr. Stone Kabuluzi – Director of Preventive Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population Services – Member

Secretariat

Mr. Victor Sandikonda – Deputy Director of Administration in the Office of the President and Cabinet
