Chilima Reassures People on Fight Against Corruption

Vice President Saulos Chilima who also heads the United Transformation Movement (UTM) has again vowed to fight corruption when he is voted into power come 2019 tripartite elections.

Chilima was speaking at Mzuzu Upper Stadium during the northern region launch of UTM.

In his full Tumbuka speech, the Deputy President pointed out on how corruption still cripples both government and national developmental activities hence the need to deal with it when he is in power.

“Corruption is hugely contributing to rampant poverty the country is going through.

People are easily plundering public resources and we shall close all doors and bring to book all offenders.”

In dealing with corruption, the VEEP said he shall transform the Anti-corruption Bureau by transferring powers to Parliament in appointing of its chief.

“We will also transform ESCOM and EGENCO so that they work independently and effectively and deliver to people its services.

This shall also curb rampant corruption activities which are in these organizations mainly influenced by politicians.”

In other words, Chilima said the quarter system of education is evil and his movement will abolish it as is not a way of addressing educational problems in Malawi.

Other notable faces present were Speaker of National Assembly Richard Msowoya, Patricia Kaliati, Kinnah Phiri and a group of MPs, not forgetting former first lady Callista Mutharika.
