Epileptic boy drowns in Kasungu

Police in Kasungu have advised parents with epileptic children and relatives to closely monitor them to avoid injuries and deaths in times of epileptic seizure.

The advice follows the death of an epileptic boy aged 12 who drowned in a river at Katakwe Village in the district.

According to Kasungu Police Station Public Relations Officer, Harry Namwaza, the deceased was identified as Chipiliro Lameck.

Namwaza said the boy went to Mtombozi River for fishing. While fishing, he had an epileptic seizure which made him fall into the river and drowned.

Postmortem results revealed that death of the boy was by suffocation.

The deceased hailed from Katakwe Village in Traditional Authority Santhe in Kasungu District.
