DODMA Faces Transportation Challenges in Helping Flood Victims

Government through the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA), has expressed worry as the distribution of relief items to flood victims in the country has become a challenge due to poor roads condition.

Speaking to the press, DODMA Director of Response and recovery Harris Kachale said most of the affected districts cannot be reached by road for this reason the ministry opted for helicopters to reach out to people with assistance.

“Most of the affected districts have become inaccessible by road hence the use of helicopters,” Kachale said.

Flood victims in the country are facing a number of challenges and they need to be assisted with all the necessities required.

Commenting on the matter Minister of Housing, Dr. Jean Kalirani repeated that the government will build houses for the flood victims under the decent and affordable houses program.
