Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier has been killed and three others injured after a grenade they were trying to dispose exploded during training at Chikala Hills in Machinga, MDF Spokesperson Major Paul Chiphwanya has confirmed.
Major Chiphwanya says the incident happened when the soldiers were trying to dispose ammunition that have outlived its lifespan.
The deceased has since been identified as Warrant Officer Class 1 Alexander Chauluka.
The MDF Spokesperson says the injured soldiers are currently receiving treatment at Cobbe Barracks camp hospital.
