Man Commits Suicide Over Family Planning In Mzimba

A 25 – year old man has committed suicide by hanging on April 4, 2019, allegedly in reaction to people’s blame for his poor family planning.

“He has been identified as Lammeck Phangula, from Samuel Mabaso Village, in the area of Paramount Chief M’mbelwa in Mzimba.

It is reported that the deceased was married and had a daughter aged one year and nine months.” Botha Peter Mzimba Police Station PRO narrated

Now, he impregnated his wife, but since the other child is still young, people in the village blamed him for failing to practice family planning methods. His mother blamed him too.

As such, the family become a laughingstock in the village and this did not please him.

Apparently, on the said date, he went missing around 10am only to be found dead hanging from a tree in a nearby bush three hours later.

Postmortem conducted reveals cause of the death is strangulation secondary to hanging.
