Attorney General Chikosa Sulungwe warns Secretary to OPC on transfers

Attorney General Chikosa Sulungwe has warned the Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) on the transfer of Mr. Amani Mussa and Chisazo Nyirongo.

The warning is contained in a letter dated August 20, 2020 addressed to the Zangazanga Chikhosi seen by this publication.

Sulungwe has described the move as ultra vires and illegal.

“I noted you have not responded to my letter of 16th July 2020.

“Please note that the purported secondement of Mr. Chisazo Nyirongo and the posting of Amani Mussa breached the Public Service Act especially Regulation 1:175 and Regulation 1:176 of the Malawi Public Regulations,” reads in part the letter.

He added: “The decisions are ultra vires and illegal.”

Since ascending to the High Office, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Tonse Alliance has embarked on reshuffles in statutory corporation.

The reshuffle has affected a number of people suspected to be supporters of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
