With the arrest of a 23-year-old woman, the Gujarat police claimed to have solved a case of abduction of a 17-year-old boy from Anand district. Police investigation revealed that the arrestee, after abducting the teenager, allegedly sexually assaulted him.

According to the police, the 17-year-old boy had gone missing from Anand on May 25, following which his family members sprang up in a search for him. After failing to find him, the teenager’s parents filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of abduction against unidentified person/s and initiated investigations.

A fortnight later, the teenager was rescued from Surat. The police said the accused woman abducted the boy from Anand and took him to Surat under the pretext of solemnizing marriage with him. Further inquiries disclosed that she had sexually assaulted the minor boy. She has been arrested and charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act  have been slapped on her, according to a report by The Indian Express.

This incident has come to light nearly 10 days after a woman was held in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor boy. What is even more shocking that the woman’s husband and his family members learnt of the alleged crime, they tried to extort Rs 1 lakh from the 16-year-old boy’s family on threat that they would frame him in rape case of the woman if they refused or failed to pay the money, according to a Hindustan Times report.
